Did you know that the Summer Solstice on June 21st is the longest day of the year? 

It is also the National Indigenous Peoples Day which is very important to Indigenous Peoples. 

As we start the month of June which is National Indigenous History Month in Canada. June 21, 2026 is the 30th anniversary of National Indigenous Peoples Day. It’s a time to recognize and celebrate the traditions, cultures and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis across Canada. 

The PIPSC NCR Region is proud to sponsor the POW-WOW competition with Mādahòkì Farm Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival on June 20-21, 2026. 

The highly anticipated 2026 Edition of Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival (SSIF) is once again at Wesley Clover Parks for this year’s National Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations, June 20-21, 2026. The new venue provides more space to enhance the festival and celebrate the culture, traditions, and contemporary expressions of Indigenous Peoples.

We are encouraging all PIPSC NCR members in Ottawa-Gatineau to come out and experience the 2026 Edition of Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival first hand, In addition to the Pow Wow, highlights for this year’s festival include the Glow-in-the-Dark Pow Wow, and an exciting drone show. Attendees can participate in workshops, culinary experiences, and explore the Indigenous Marketplace. Family-friendly fun includes Jed the Mechanical Bull, axe throwing, and Inuit Games. Madahoki Farm’s Ojibwe Spirit Horses will also be on-site, along with many more exciting experiences.
