Your bargaining team has been preparing for the next round of collective bargaining. Here’s an update on our progress.

Bargaining survey

Thanks to all members who completed the bargaining survey. Participation was among the highest we have seen.

Your responses showed clear priorities and common concerns across the bargaining unit. This feedback is helping us prepare for negotiations and focus on the issues that matter most to members.

We were encouraged by members’ responses and their willingness to stand up for the respect, recognition, and improvements they deserve. Your feedback continues to guide our work at the bargaining table.

Notice to bargain:

On March 13, 2026, PIPSC negotiator John Ehinger formally served NAV CANADA with a notice to bargain, officially starting the bargaining process.

After notice to bargain is filed, both parties must conduct a “Maintenance of Activities” process to identify the employees (PIPSC members) who must continue working if we end up in a legal strike or lockout. This is a procedural process and not a decision on whether to strike.

Preparing for negotiations:

Since our last update, the bargaining team has met several times to review member feedback, prioritize issues, and develop the bargaining package that will be presented to NAV CANADA.

We have 2 more preparation meetings scheduled before bargaining begins.

Bargaining sessions scheduled for Fall 2026:

The parties have scheduled 3 weeks of bargaining sessions:

  • September 22 to 25, 2026
  • October 27 to 30, 2026
  • November 30 to December 3, 2026

During these sessions, proposals will be exchanged, discussed, and negotiated as we work toward achieving a renewed collective agreement.

Next steps:

Your collective agreement expired on April 30, 2026. Although the agreement has expired, its terms and conditions remain in effect while bargaining continues. Members should continue to work under the provisions of the existing collective agreement until a new agreement has been negotiated and ratified.

Your bargaining team appreciates the support, engagement, and feedback received from members throughout this process. We remain committed to advancing your priorities and will continue to provide regular updates as bargaining progresses.
