IT Bytes #4: Bargaining update

Published | Last updated 54 minutes ago

Your IT Bargaining Team met with the employer for the second session of negotiations from March 31 to April 1, 2026, to share and review their respective proposals. While there was limited common ground, agreement was reached on a few smaller items.

The employer showed no interest in engaging on any of the following issues:

– telework

– AI-related proposals

– sick leave

– harassment

Although the Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) rejected proposals with monetary impacts, they were open to some changes to vacation allowances.

Work Force Adjustment (WFA)

A significant portion of day 2 was spent discussing Work Force Adjustment (WFA), but no convincing arguments were made for the employer’s proposal to remove WFA language from the collective agreement.

Return-to-office (RTO)

An initial mediation session regarding the unfair labour practice complaint related to the RTO mandate was held on May 11, 2026. A second mediation session is scheduled for June 9, 2026.

The next bargaining sessions will take place on May 28, June 10 and 11, and August 25 and 26, 2026. Thank you to everyone who has shown solidarity, worn our Group colours and continued to support the bargaining team.

In solidarity,

Robert Scott

President and Bargaining Officer, IT Group, PIPSC
