POST-PANDEMIC PUBLIC SERVICE
During the recent Pandemic, the Prime Minister of Canada and Canadians gave a new level of appreciation for the critical services provided by Canada’s world-class public service professionals and noted how they continuously “stepped-up” to this and other challenges related to health, climate, economy and political unrest around the world.
As these professionals were going beyond their traditional mandate, work conditions and management structure, they have experienced challenges and opportunities to better serve Canadians. They adapted rapidly to working remotely and autonomously, while improving productivity and quality of service to Canadians in a time of crisis. This experience has provided an opportunity for professionals to eliminate many of the bureaucratic hurdles and requirement, ineffective processes, and unnecessary management layers.
Canada’s public service professionals are recognized as world leaders in:
Climate change research and forecasting
Developing vaccines and reviewing new drugs
Delivery of healthcare services, as defined by Standards of Practice and Regulatory bodies
Developing and approving standards for infrastructure
Developing and maintaining secure IT applications
Auditing and monitoring international tax applications
Food safety and certification
PIPSC represents over 70,000 professionals committed to ensuring that Canada has the credibility and tools to defend the interests of Canadians. During the COVID Pandemic, these professionals have clearly demonstrated the value Canadians get because they are committed to maintaining their credentials, training requirements and recognition among peers, both nationally and internationally. This affords them the confidence and ability to deliver the best services and products with less cost associated to ineffective management and bureaucratic overhead. Telework has also proven to provide unexpected benefits on many different levels to all Canadians.
On National Public Service Week, PIPSC salutes their members who play a vital role in our country and who perform their duties with passion, devotion and integrity.
