On May 20th, Deputy Minister Mollie Johnson and Waheed Khan, President of the National Consultation Team for the Professional Institute of Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) co-chaired the biannual ECCC Labour-Management Consultation Committee (ECCCLMCC) meeting.
This meeting provides a forum for management and bargaining agents to engage in meaningful dialogue and collaboration on a range of topics that affect employees and their workplace. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Deputy Minister and bargaining agents signed the updated ECCC Labour-Management Consultation (LMC) Framework.
The LMC Framework is an important instrument that affirms ECCC’s ongoing commitment to its established labour-management consultation committee structure and to maintaining open and respectful communication between management and bargaining agents. Management remains committed to meeting all obligations under collective agreements and applicable policies, directives, and standards, and attaches great value to the contribution of Bargaining Agents in creating a healthy, respectful and productive workplace, critical to achieving the Department’s mandate.
ECCC recognizes that strong labour-management relations are essential to fostering a productive and healthy workforce. When employers and unions collaborate effectively, they help build a workplace culture based on mutual respect, transparency, and shared objectives. This partnership not only helps protect employees’ rights but also supports the organization’s ability to achieve its goals.
