It is with sadness that we note the recent passing of Robert “Bob” Butko (1955-2026).
Bob was a dedicated member and leader within PIPSC. In the early 1990s, he served as Chair of the Institute’s Finance Committee for two years and also served as Chair of the Computer Systems (CS) Group, now known as the IT Group.
During his time as Chair in 1990-1991, Bob led the CS Group through a significant period of strike activity that lasted from February 1991 until back-to-work legislation was passed in October 1991.
