Public Service Dental Plan
About the PSDCP
The PSDCP is a private health service plan for federal public service employees and their eligible dependents. It covers dental services and supplies that are not covered by public healthcare, up to specific limits and in specific circumstances. This plan was updated in 2025 with new benefits and policies.
Body text (word count): This plan covers most x-rays, cleaning, fillings, treatment of gums, surgical extractions and repairs as well as adjustments to dentures are reimbursed at 90% of cost. The reimbursement amount is based on the provincial or territorial dental fee schedules (or its equivalent) from the previous year. Other services such as crowns, dentures, fixed bridges and orthodontics are reimbursed at 65% the of cost. To avoid disappointment, members are strongly encouraged to request their dentist submit a predetermination of coverage to Canada Life before obtaining any non-routine treatment. Many procedures are only covered when certain criteria are met.
There is an annual deductible amount per person or per family which you must pay each calendar year. Expenses in excess of the deductible are eligible for reimbursement. The current PSDCP annual deductibles are $25.00 per person and $50.00 per family. The annual (most treatments) and lifetime (orthodontics) maximum for reimbursements limits will progressively increase from $3,000 in 2025 to $3,250 in 2027. The frequency of some procedures, such as dental cleanings, are limited.
