SH Bargaining Update #2

Published | Last updated 1 hour ago

Your SH Bargaining Team is preparing to negotiate a new collective agreement.

Thanks to everyone who participated in our recent classification drop-in sessions. Your feedback and honesty continue to shape this round of bargaining.

From June 22 to 23, the SH Bargaining Team met to review what we heard from members across all professions. Your feedback was clear and consistent.

Many of you highlighted key priorities such as:

  • fair compensation
  • deprofessionalization
  • challenges in meeting regulatory requirements
  • pressures on the scope of practice
  • limited opportunities for career development
  • other workplace concerns

These and other shared issues will help guide our work at the bargaining table.

The team also completed its review of the proposed changes to the collective agreement. This is an important milestone as we finalize our bargaining proposals and prepare for negotiations.

We also discussed key issues that affect your day-to-day professional practice, including:

  • liability insurance requirements
  • operational and workplace safety expectations
  • regulatory practice challenges
  • the potential impacts of pay simplification language

Finally, we discussed our bargaining campaign strategies. Members have made it clear that employer-driven constraints are increasingly affecting licensure, professional judgment, and scope of practice. Our campaign will highlight these concerns and reinforce the importance of professional autonomy, regulatory integrity, and the essential work SH members do every day.

Next steps

We are entering this round of bargaining with a strong, united voice built on your experiences and priorities.

Thank you for your continued engagement and support. Together, we will continue to push for the recognition, respect, and working conditions you deserve.
