Your collective agreement expired on September 30, 2026. We’re preparing for the next round of bargaining by forming the CMN Group Bargaining Team.
We are accepting nominations for a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 positions.
This is an opportunity to deepen your engagement with the union, actively participate in the negotiations process, and help improve the lives of your fellow members at the bargaining table.
The Bargaining Team’s mandate will last for the duration of the bargaining round. Team members will meet in person in the Ottawa-Gatineau region for bargaining preparations and negotiations but may occasionally participate virtually. People outside Ottawa are eligible for travel and accommodation compensation as required.
All members are eligible to sit on the bargaining team. No previous bargaining experience is required, and the union will provide training to all team members.
This role requires a time commitment for team members. The work will start in November 2026 and end once a tentative agreement is completed (typically 18 to 24 months).
Interested members must commit to the process by dedicating their time, making decisions by consensus as often as possible, representing all CMN Group members regardless of classification, and respecting bargaining confidentiality.
To be as representative and equitable as possible, the CMN Executive will consider the following criteria in its selection process:
- Availability
- Diversity of the team, including representation of equity-seeking groups, language, classification, department and regional diversification
- Communication skills
- Relevant leadership experience, including in labour relations
- Capacity to work within a team
- Experience as a steward or in the interpretation/application of the collective agreement will be an asset
Applications to join the bargaining team must be submitted by November 17, 2026.
We encourage all members to apply for this leadership opportunity, especially if you’re from an equity-seeking group.
The bargaining team will be selected at the November 24, 2026 AGM. If the number of candidates exceeds the available seats, the meeting will hold a secret ballot election.
If you can’t make the meeting but want to be considered for the bargaining team, please email your negotiator, who will put your name forward on your behalf.
If you have any questions about becoming a bargaining team member or would like to put your name forward in absentia, please contact the team’s negotiator, Katherine Kenny, at kkenny@pipsc.ca.
