SUN-RT Group executive call for nominations

The Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre Radiation Therapist Group executive is seeking nominations for the following positions:

President – 2-year term
Vice-President – 2-year term
Secretary – 2-year term
Treasurer – 2-year term
Member at Large (3 positions) – 2-year term

As a member of the group executive, your role is to:

further the professional interests of the members
protect the status and standards of our profession
represent the views of the members on matters affecting them
ensure that the interests of the Group are represented in all proceedings of the employer and of the union

Elected officials will be required to:

assume Officer portfolios;
attend the SUN-RT and PIPSC AGMs; and
meet approximately 6 times per year, in person or via Zoom (meetings may take place on weekdays, weekends, and evenings).

Experience:

The SUN-RT Group is looking for candidates that have significant previous union experience and a good working knowledge of the SUN-RT Collective Agreement and PIPSC. These are volunteer positions requiring a commitment to perform duties both at times during and outside of your normal public service work hours.

ELECTION PROCEDURE

Here is a summary the criteria required:

The nominee must be a member of the SUN-RT Group and a member in good standing with PIPSC. 
Nominations must be supported by at least two SUN-RT members.
Candidates are to submit their bios in both official languages (English and French).

Instructions for Candidates

Log into the Election System and complete the online nomination form.

You can use your profile bio or create a customized bio for this election. Please ensure that your bio is posted in both official languages before the nomination deadline to avoid any delays in the voting process. The word limit is 350 words in English and 420 words in French. If you need help to get your bio translated, please contact Crystal, Administrative Coordinator for the SUN-RT Group, at cmacfarlane@pipsc.ca.

IMPORTANT: Biographies will not be proofread, and corrections will not be made, except when requested by the Elections Committee. Candidates can include why they want to be on the executive and any priorities the executive should address.

Once you have submitted your candidacy, it will be reviewed by the National Election Committee, who will either accept or request changes from the candidate. Once the nomination is accepted, candidates can ask SUN-RT members to support their candidacy by logging into the Election System and going into the SUN-RT 2026 Election.

Instructions for Members supporting a Candidate

Once a candidate’s submission has been accepted, the candidates can ask for supporters to validate their candidacy. Members can log into their PIPSC Election System account, go into the SUN-RT 2026 Election, and support the candidate of their choice.

Submit your nomination and make sure your supporters validate your candidature by 4:00 PM EST time on October 9, 2026, in the PIPSC Election System.
