CP Group Bargaining Update

Published | Last updated 6 hours ago

On February 28, the CP Group held its bargaining conference, bringing together 33 members from different departments and from across the country.

The conference began with a presentation on the results of the 2 member bargaining surveys, followed by a workshop on drafting proposals based on the concerns identified by the members.

Concerns included:

1. Pay: Compensation equal to or above inflation, at 95%

2. Remote work: 81% indicated that they could work effectively remotely 4 days or more per week

3. Leave: 72% of members want to prioritize increasing the number of leave days

4. Career development and protection against AI issues.

The CP Group Executive confirmed during its meeting on March 30, 2026, that the method of resolution in the event of an impasse will be conciliation followed by a strike.

In addition to the CP Group negotiation table, PIPSC has established a team responsible for developing proposals on common issues (Common Issues Table). This table has been delegated the following issues:

  • teleworking
  • work force re-organization
  • artificial intelligence
  • harassment
  • sick Leave
  • general economic increase

The Common Issues Team proposals will be included in the Group’s submitted proposals.

Next steps

The negotiation team meets in April and May to draft our demands. We plan to notify the employer of our intention to negotiate at the beginning of June 2026.

As you know, our collective agreement expires on June 21, 2026. By indicating our intention to negotiate, this means that the current conditions of our agreement are frozen and continue to apply until the signing of the next one.

Finally, we remind you that the bargaining team is the spokesperson for group members at the bargaining table and only has power if the members are mobilized and engaged.

You can reach us at cp_barg@pipsc.ca and on our Facebook page.

Together, let’s make this round a success!
