Becoming a steward

This page outlines what stewards do, what’s expected, and the steps to become one. PIPSC stewards represent colleagues’ interests and rights and ensure fair treatment and a healthy workplace.

Basic Steward Training

This course is your first step toward becoming a trusted advocate and resource for your colleagues.

Expectations of stewards

  • promote fairness and resolve concerns constructively
  • be familiar with the collective agreement and union policies
  • stay up to date on union news and workplace changes
