In April, your bargaining representatives met informally with the Employer in an effort to move negotiations forward. The last remaining points of contention are the SR pay rates, we have clearly communicated our expectations on these rates of pay numerous times, and we continue to do so.

The Montérégie Branch is pleased to be hosting a retirement planning session for its members. Many of our members will be retiring over the next few years. Since this optional seminar is being given at no cost to members, those wishing to attend must cover their own travel costs. The Branch will cover the costs of the session.

Members of the Bargaining Team for the SH Group met July 17 to July 19, 2018 for preparatory meetings for the upcoming round of bargaining.

Summer 2018 has arrived, or so we are told. With the snow and frost that has occurred lately in Atlantic you would think we are headed into winter not summer.

DND Consultation Team Call for Volunteers for the Communication Officer Position Dear Stewards, 

On June 20, 2018, we organized three webinar information sessions for the RCMP Civilian Members (CMs) who, following a decision from the Federal Labour Board on April 13, 2018, have been included in our union.

In May 2018, I spoke at the Atlantic Regional Council about ongoing issues surrounding the Phoenix pay system.

We are pleased to advise that a Basic Steward Training session is being offered on October 25-27, 2018 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The training will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday October 25, 2018 and will conclude at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2018. The course will be held at the Fairmont Hotel Winnipeg. Accommodation will be provided also at the Fairmont Hotel.

Stewards play a critical role in our organization. These volunteers act as liaisons between members, the employer, and our union. To show our appreciation to stewards in this region, we invite our members to nominate a steward that they feel has devoted time, energy and commitment to making our workplaces better.

As the negotiations for the renewal of your collective agreements continue in to the fall (2018), your bargaining teams would like to clarify the issue of hours of work. Negotiations have happened around moving to a 40 hour work week. Though at this time this proposal has not yet been signed off. We are still discussing compensation for the 40 hours, format of the 40 hours, start times, and how to calculate accrual and use of leave (vacation, sick leave, etc).

After the success of the last drop-in session, the 50 Victoria Street subgroup is holding another one on Wednesday July 18th, from 9:30 to 10:30 am in the union offices, located on the commercial level in C119A (located near the entrance on Victoria Street).
