The UOITP bargaining team is pleased to announce that our members have voted to accept the tentative agreement reached with the Employer on January 31, 2024. We will now work towards signing the new collective agreement and moving towards implementation. In solidarity,

UOITP Signing 2018 On February 22, 2018 the Institute and the University signed the UOITP collective agreement. The signing of the collective agreement follows the positive outcome of the Group’s ratification vote held October 19-23, 2017.

The ratification vote closed on Wednesday November 1. Participation was very high and the results are clear. The tentative agreement has been accepted.

Result of the Strike Vote A Strike vote was held between August 24 and 28, 2017. A substantial percentage of the bargaining unit members voted in favour of providing your Bargaining Team with a strong strike mandate. A number of fun events are being planned for the next two weeks.

Update on PIPSC-UOITP bargaining posted by the University of August 18. As previously stated due to the University walking away from the bargaining table and declaring an impasse at the negotiations, your Bargaining team met in conciliation with the employer on August 2, 2017.

OITP Bargaining Update # 5 – August 2017 Issues of the Impasse in Bargaining leading to the Strike Vote

Your Bargaining Team met with the University in conciliation on August 2, 2017. The conciliator provided by Ontario Labour Relations was unable to help both sides to reach an agreement. Therefore the UOITP asked the conciliator to issue a ‘No Board Report’. This Report simply states that the UOITP and the University have reached an impasse in negotiations. The Report was issued on August 10, 2017 which puts UOITP in a legal strike position on August 27, 2017.

Conciliation is a process by which a trade union or an employer can ask the Ontario Ministry of Labour for help in resolving their differences so that they can reach a collective agreement. Either party may apply to the ministry. If parties are in negotiations, they must use the government's conciliation services before they can get into a position to engage in a strike or lock-out.

Dear Members, Your Bargaining Team met with the Employer on May 9 and 10, 2017. We reviewed the Employer's proposals and discussed your priorities, highlighted from the bargaining survey. Your top three priorities: Job security, Outside Consulting and Remuneration were presented.
