Membership Clerk

Under the direction of the Manager, Corporate Services, the Membership Clerk addresses membership queries and ensures all payments of dues are received, accounted for, and recorded in the database.

PIPSC, a national union representing around 65,000 professionals and scientists throughout Canada, currently requires a bilingual Membership Clerk at its National Office in Ottawa, Ontario.

The Position:

Under the direction of the Manager, Corporate Services, the Membership Clerk addresses membership queries and ensures all payments of dues are received, accounted for, and recorded in the database.

Responsibilities include:

  • Verifying union dues are properly deducted for Institute members and payments are received in a timely manner.
  • Processing monthly reports of dues and non-dues paying members.
  • Verifying dues and assessing members who are not paying dues or who are in arrears. Ensuring repayment of arrears owing are properly administered according to policy and update database.
  • Communicating with various employers to ensure policy provisions are respected and investigating discrepancies.
  • Preparing invoices, credit notes, and recording personal cheques.
  • Entering member information into database, responding to change of address and membership status queries, and updating/creating new records as required.
  • Assist in the registration of delegates at the Annual General Meeting.

The Candidate:

The successful bilingual candidate will have completed secondary school and have two years’ experience working in data entry. They will have a proven ability to accurately enter, manipulate and analyze large amounts of data. They will also have strong communication skills, both orally and in writing and have excellent experience working in various computer programs such as: Microsoft Office and GoogleSuite.

The Salary: $48,899 to $61,125 (G2)
