Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) President Debi Daviau will hold a press conference tomorrow on Parliament Hill about the Phoenix pay system’s ongoing problems and outline a key demand of the government.

Dear Members, As we approach the end of the year I wanted to take the opportunity to update you about the Phoenix pay system and the steps PIPSC has taken to try and find immediate and lasting solutions to the fiasco we find ourselves in.

Dear Members, Last week I had the opportunity to meet with Deputy Minister Simon Kennedy to speak with him about the Phoenix pay problems our members at Health Canada are facing.

I am writing to you concerning Bill C-27, An Act to amend the Pension Benefits Standards Act. As President of the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC), which represents 55,000 members working in the federal public service and the broader federal and provincial public sector, I wish to convey my very deep concerns about this proposed legislation.

As Monday, October 31 marks the government own deadline to finally fix the problems plaguing the Phoenix pay system’s, public service employees represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), the Canadian Association of Professional Employees and the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) will rally in downtown Ottawa to pressure officials into repairing the system once and for all.

This month the Treasury Board announced the opening of a claims office to reimburse out-of-pocket expenses public servants have incurred due to problems with the Phoenix pay system.

Dear National Capital Region members, Monday October 31st isn’t just Halloween, it’s the day the government promised to finally fix the Phoenix pay system’s bagful of problems.

PIPSC is happy to announce that the Institute has been selected to take part in the Government of Canada’s independent review of Shared Services Canada, as a representative on Gartner Canada Co.’s panel of information technology (IT) experts.

On behalf of our members, the Institute continues to express our very serious concerns with the new Phoenix pay system.

Fellow Members,

I share many of our members’ concerns at the planned transition of over 60 remaining federal organizations to the Phoenix system later this April. I have therefore written to Judy Foote, Minister of Public Services and Procurement urging her to postpone this transition until these issues have been resolved.
