AV Bargaining Committee Call for Nomination
Deadline: Thursday January 25th, 2018   (noon EDT)

The AV Group Executive is looking for members to serve on the Bargaining Committee. The Bargaining Committee is a committee of the Group Executive. The members of the Bargaining Committee shall act on behalf of the Group in bargaining the Collective Agreement with the employer. The Bargaining Committee shall keep the Group Executive informed of the progress of negotiations.

As per R10.2.7, the Group executive will select one PG and one CO from members not part of the AV Group Executive.

R10.2 Bargaining Team

R10.2.1 The Bargaining Team is a committee of the Group Executive. The members of the Bargaining Team shall act on behalf of the Group in bargaining the Collective Agreement with the employer. The Bargaining Team shall keep the Group Executive informed of the progress of negotiations.

R10.2.2 The Bargaining Team shall normally be established within the three (3) months preceding the expiry of the Collective Agreement. A call for nomination shall be distributed to all Regular members of the Group, at least six (6) weeks prior the closing date for nominations. Nominations must be supported by at least two (2) Regular members of the Group and the nominee must indicate a willingness to be part of the Bargaining Team if selected.

R10.2.5 The Bargaining Team shall normally be composed of seven (7) members. The Team will normally consist of three (3) CO representatives, three (3) PG representatives, and one (1) AU.

R10.2.7 When possible, when making the selection of the Bargaining Team members, one (1) CO representative and one (1) PG representative should be chosen from members not part of the Group Executive.

Where operational requirements permit, the Employer will grant leave without pay to an employee for the purpose of attending contract negotiations meetings on behalf of the Institute.

30.11 Preparatory contract negotiations meetings

Where operational requirements permit, the Employer will grant leave without pay to an employee to attend preparatory contract negotiations meetings.

You must also include reasons why you should be considered for the Bargaining Committee. The deadline to submit your nomination is noon (EDT) January 25th, 2018.  Late submission will not be accepted.
