AV - Quebec Regional Representative’s Report

2017–2018 Fiscal Year

Hello everyone,

I am pleased to provide my report as Quebec Regional Representative.

The Quebec Region has XXX members this year, compared to the 436 members last year. The AV representatives in Quebec are like 10 fingers—or almost! I would like to acknowledge my fellow representatives, who are not afraid to come forward, who don’t sit around twiddling their thumbs, who are committed to the labour cause and to standing up for their co-workers … and who unfortunately are sometimes the target of mean-spirited remarks. I take my hat off to them and would like to let you know who they are: Stefan Albu, Josée Bergeron, Jean-Denis Bisson, Mario Guertin, Fabiola Lahens, Damien Noël, Benoit Rancourt, Patrick Whalen and myself, Jacques Laperrière. Thanks to their dedication, PIPSC remains a vibrant labour organization and a key player in labour relations for professionals in the federal public service.

Serving members is one of my priorities and if you come to me saying you would like to form a Sub-Group, I would be happy to guide you in your endeavour and help you get through the various formalities.

The year 2018 will mark the beginning of a new set of negotiations with Treasury Board for the renewal of our collective agreement. We will go to the table well equipped and I personally hope that the pay discrepancy between ECs and COs gets resolved for good.

Finally, I don’t know what lies ahead for me. I have invested a lot of energy as AV Group Representative for the Quebec Region, and it has been an honour to serve you.

In Solidarity and Better Together,

Jacques Laperrière

Quebec Regional Representative
